Joining the military was a lifelong dream for Carlos. He struggled in school, but knew he wanted to be a marine, so he studied really hard, especially in Algebra. He would stay up all night studying until his eyes were blurry.
Carlos was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
