Summary:

Master Sergeant Martin Lawrence joined the Army just after completing High School.

Martin’s first assignment was 3rd Armored Division (Spearhead) Freiburg, Germany as 11M M1 Bradley Gunner 1st BN/52nd Infantry for 2 years. He Deployed to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in support of Operation Desert Storm.

Martin served as an Opposing Forces (OPFOR) Squad Leader in 11th ACR “Black Horse” in Fort Irwin, California. Returned to Baumholder, Germany to 4th/12th Infantry Battalion as the Bradley Gunner for the S-3 Master Gunner. Deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Endeavor.

This was his last active duty tour as a regular Army component. He returned to the Army Reserve in 2000 after a short break in service. He was First Sergeant of 1st BN 383 (CS/CSS), had completed NCOES and was awaiting acceptance for Command Sergeant Academy.

Martin was a humble person and was willing to do anything to help the people around him.
He loved to entertain family and friends with his culinary skills.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid weightlifter. He was an active member in his church and a dedicated father and husband. He will be forever missed.

Life Achievements/ Recognitions:

Associates of Arts in Corrections from Hawkeye Community College.

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University and Masters Public Administration from Ashford University.

Fitness and Nutrition -Career Diploma -Penn Foster Career School. He received a Diploma as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from Penn Foster.

Master Mason from the High Desert Lodge #107 of Victorville, CA. Member of the Black Hawk County branch of the NAACP
